This tutorial is written for someone who has not used a kiosk or kiosk software before and would like some assistance before they try to use a kiosk.

Steps

1) Approach the kiosk. For your security, make sure that no one is looking directly at the screen while you are using the kiosk.

2) Look at the screen. Verify that the screen has text on it that is in your language. If the screen is not in a language you speak, look for a button on the screen that is in your language. Touch the button on the screen that is in your language.

3) If you speak the language on the screen, verify that the screen is displaying a Touch to Begin or Start Here type message. If the screen looks confusing and is not giving an introduction message, look for a Cancel button or similar. Other buttons could include: Escape, End, Home, or Exit. Touch the Cancel button.

4) If there is a button that says Touch To Begin, Start Here, or similar, then touch it. This will start the kiosk software.

5) At this point, the software will guide you through the process step by step. Touch the buttons on the screen as they appear. If you are unsure of what to do at any point during the process, touch the Help button. In some cases, the button may say More Information.

6) If, during the process, you do not want to continue any further, touch a button that says Cancel. In some cases, the button may say Exit, Escape, or End.

7) At the end of the process, touch a button that says Exit. In some cases, the button may say End or Home. This will ensure your session with the kiosk software has ended and protects your security so that another user of the kiosk software will not access your session and information.

Additional Points

Do not try to do anything with the computer at the kiosk outside of following the instructions and touching the buttons. The kiosk software is specifically designed to keep users from accessing any directories on the computer, launching any software on the computer other than what is used in the process, and from accessing any sites on the internet, other than what might be included in the process.

Consumer device chip maker Broadcom has acquired SC Square, a security software maker based in Tel Aviv, Israel, the company announced over the weekend.

Broadcom will pay $41.9 million, net of cash, to purchase all of the outstanding shares of capital stock and other equity rights of SC Square, which provides a number of chip security and communication products and solutions.

SC Square is a subsidiary of Nisko Projects & Communications, a high-tech company listed on Israel’s stock exchange.

Broadcom says, with the acquisition, it is gaining a team of architects and engineers focused on security, which it deems an ‘essential ingredient’ across its platforms.

The company just two weeks ago announced that it had acquired Provigent, which makes semiconductors for microwave backhaul systems, for $313 million. they also recently purchased Gigle Networks for more than $75 million.

Broadcom expects the acquisition of SC Square to be dilutive to earnings for the remainder of 2011 by approximately $0.01. the transaction is expected to close in Broadcom’s second quarter, ending June 30, 2011.

Broadcom provides system-on-a-chip and embedded software solutions to manufacturers of computing and networking equipment, digital entertainment and broadband access products, and mobile devices.
